The Final Season
The Final Season as LDNE Cougars Has Begun An article written by freshman Nicholas Ronnfeldt The LDNE football team started off their season with a 84 to 60 win against Parkview Christian High School. The Slobs (a.k.a the Cougar offensive line) led the way with 35 pancakes which allowed the starting quarterback Montana Riecken, who is a junior, to lead the Cougars offense with four rushing touchdowns and two passing. It also allowed for Marcus Hegy, a senior running back, to run in a couple of scores for the Cougar offense. Their next game is September 4th against Saint Francis High School. The junior high football team has started their second year with Bancroft - Rosalie. They are now named the B-R-L-D Wolverines and they will play their first game against Howells - Dodge on September 8th. The youth football teams, which include the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades, have been practicing hard the last few weeks. With help from the a few volunteer high school linemen, their team will be in tip - top shape for their season opener which is still to be announced. In conclusion, all of the hard work during the summer is starting to pay off for the Cougars as they start the season. They are hoping for a big win against Humphrey Saint Francis this Friday, who is the number one rank by the Lincoln Journal Star and Omaha World Herald. The junior high and youth football teams have also put in a lot of work in the last few weeks to prepare for each of their first games.
