2014-2015 Cougar Pom Squad
Pom Squad 2014-2015 Written by freshman Amanda Alford Edited by Mrs. Mace With no cheer this year, it all falls on the pom squad to get the home crowd excited about our school spirit! So far, they have been busy learning new routines, perfecting them and designing spirit posters as well. Who is on the pom squad? This year’s 2014-2015 pom squad has nine members. Starting off: Freshmen-Amanda Alford, Cassidy Mentink and Kassandra Prieto, Sophomore-Kelly Wakeley, Juniors-Mickayla Peterson, Brianne Haskall and Taylor Sparks. Senior Captains-Darcey Simonsen and Victoria Maslonka. I have interviewed Captain Darcey Simonsen via email and asked two main questions, “What are your primary goals and what do you want to accomplish this year?” Darcy wants to focus on being a team and really coming together. Another focus is to work on the squads technique so that they can become outstanding dancers. Darcy hopes to accomplish many things, like going to state with a winning routine. Another accomplishment she is striving to achieve is to work on small game routines. She also wants the girls to improve individually. Homecoming 2014 was a huge success. The pom squad organized our annual pep rally in the middle of town. The boys were in charge of “prepping” themselves for the homecoming night with makeup and the girls got a kiss on the cheek from their number one man!
