Two Livestock Judging Teams Qualify For State
The Lyons-Decatur Northeast FFA traveled to Northeast Community College in Norfolk to compete in the District III Livestock Selection Career Development Event. During Livestock Evaluation, students evaluate classes and answer questions on market and breeding classes of beef, sheep, and swine, as well as complete an industry test, questions, and reasons for the senior team.
The local FFA chapter participated in both the junior and senior events, with the Team of Martin Long, Tessie Collins, Brent Miller and Abby Peterson finishing fifth and earning the right to compete at the state level. Individually, purple ribbons went to Martin Long (8th), Tessie Collins (12th), Brent Miller (17th), and Abby Peterson (32nd). Blue ribbons were earned by Jayden Vetick, Alec Anderson, Madie Ronnfeldt and Shyanne French.
The senior team of Vanessa Peterson, Heidi Miller, Morgan Olsen and Victoria Maslonka placed 4th overall, also earning the right to compete on the state level. Individually, purple ribbons were earned by Vanessa Peterson (8th), Heidi Miller (14th), and Morgan Olsen (20th). Victoria Maslonka earned a blue ribbon, and Haley Bacon, Darcey Simonsen, David Bishop and Blair Preston earned reds.
