What swam the seas long before dinosaurs roamed the Earth, replaces its own broken teeth, lives 10 to 20 years, and fights off sickness better than humans? Sharks, of course! Mrs. Wakeley's second grade class was busy studying shark facts. It is estimated that 10 million sharks are being killed every year and some species of sharks are becoming endangered. These creatures are dying out because of humans hunting. Sharks can be caught in nets, used for their meat, and even used to make belts and clothing. Veteran's Day Program

November 11th

The annual Veteran's Day Program was held on Tuesday, November 11th, at 9:00 A.M. at Lyons-Decatur School. Members of the local VFW's of Decatur and Lyons, the VFW Auxiliary, community members, students and faculty were guests at the program. Specialist Juan Moran, of the National Guard, was the speaker and Jerry Ludwig was the MC. Congratulations to Jacob and Jacob

Congratulations to the students of the month for October. Jacob Pond is a junior at Northeast and is the son of Katy Pond and Roger Pond. Jacob's activities include: football, basketball, track, mock trial, band and he is a member of the National Honor Society.  Jacob Maslonka is in the 8th grade and the son of Alicia and Clinton Maslonka. He is involved in football, basketball and track. These students were chosen for their academic excellence as well as their involvement in Lyons-Decatur School.
