Cougars Attack!
Cougars Attack!

It’s that time of year again for watching the Cougar’s football team play. One will hear the cheerleaders or watch the pom girls perform to get your spirit up. Or one might eat popcorn while sitting in the bleachers while listening to the screaming and shouting on both sides of the field as the last minutes goes by. Will our team get a touchdown?
On Friday 31st, the Cougars held a game at Mead hoping for the best. Freshmen through senior boys played that night for coaches Mr. Marsh, Mr. Hilsinger, and Mr. Lahm. The final score was 14 to 58 leaving the Cougars to win their first game of the 2012 season! Looks like we are off to a good start.
Since the team looked great, I asked Mr. Lahm a few questions. First, I asked him why he thinks this will be a successful season? He said, “We are more improved because we have worked hard to be fundamental and disciplined. The boys have spent a tremendous amount of time in the weight room.” Next, I asked what team will give us a bigger challenge? “Humphrey St. Francis because they have the history and tradition of being a really quality team,” was his response. In addition, I asked what he thought was different and what stayed the same with this year’s of football team from last year’s? “We are stronger and more experience in what we are trying to do offensively and defensively. We are similar in that we have much of the same team returning from last year. Our offensive line as wall as our backfield is stronger and more versatile.” Last, do you have a motto or goal for the Cougars? “ Our goal is to get better or improve every single day, and our motto is ‘NO Excuses’.”
This year seems like it is going to be a great one for the Cougars. Their next game will be this September 7th against Winside at 7pm. Don’t forget it is parent’s night! Please come and support our team. Go Cougars!!
