July 9, 2018 Board Meeting
The Board of Education of the Lyons-Decatur School District No. 20 met in regular session on Monday,
June 11, 2018 in the secondary library. Present were: Anderson, Archer, Bacon, Brehmer, Christiansen,Olson, Petersen, Vlach and Preston, and Administrator’s Hansen and Lecher. The duly publicized meeting was opened at 7:34 pm.
Acknowledgement of receipt of notice and agenda for the meeting was taken by roll call.
Superintendent’s Report: Mr. Hansen reported on the accreditation from NDE for the 2018-19 school year, General Fund transfer of $100,000 to the Depreciation Fund for transportation, General Fund transfer to the Employee Benefits fund of $8000 and the 2018 Vehicle Report.
Principal’s Report: No report given.
Building and Grounds/Transportation Report: Preston reported on the committee meeting held prior to the regular meeting. Items discussed were; lighting project for new parking lot, possible roof replacement on the crows nest, cutting street curb for parking lot, replace shower in coaches office and repair/replace shower spigot in JH shower.
P2T Report: Anderson reported on projected enrollment for 2018-19, a Strategic Action Plan and Budget expenditures and revenue. The Budget Hearing was set for September 12, 2018 at 7 p.m. at ESU#2 in Fremont.

General Fund claims in the amount of $375,216.72
Old Business: Policies and Handbook items listed in motions.
New Business: Discussed Board Goals. Gary Loftis presented a proposal to hire an intern as a Technology Aide for 2018-19.
The next regular Board meeting is August 13, 2018 at 7:30 p.m.

Approved updates #1-3 to the 2018-19 Student Handbook.
Approved update #4 to the 2018-19 Student Handbook with a vote of 8 members for and one (Vlach) against.
Approved the following school board policies: #7850 –ESSA;
#1150 – Elimination of Discrimination (Perry Law Firm and KSB School Law Firm changes); #6853 – Student Discipline; #6876 - Anti-discrimination, Anti-harassment, Anti-retaliation; #4360 – Reporting of Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect; #6805 – Search and Seizures; #4380 – Assessment – Academic Content Standards; #8661 – Title I Parental and Family Engagement; #2540 – Extra Expense Incurred in Performance of School Duties; and New policies: #7170 Recording of Others; #7180 – Insufficient Funds; #6447 – Married Students; #6505.2 – Reading Instruction and Improvement; and Administrative Handbook Update: Section 6 – Homeless Students Form.
Approved the updates to the Classified Staff Handbook as presented.
