November 11th....A Time of Remembrance
Veterans Day Program
On Veterans Day, November 11th, LDNE students and staff welcomed veterans, parents, grandparents and friends to the annual Veterans Day program. In spite of the very cold morning many people attended the program. FFA members greeted our guests and ushered them to their seats, 2nd and 3rd graders lined the lobby with posters, thanking our veterans for their service. Chevy Henneman led the program which included songs by the high school choir and band, a poem read by the 4th graders, a presentation about the history of the red poppy as a symbol of remembrance, and music from the elementary students. Jerry Ludwig introduced the winners of the essay contests sponsored by the VFW, winners were: Voice of Democracy 1st place Mickayla Petersen, 2nd place Chevy Henneman and 3rd place Tessie Collins....Patriots Pen 1st place Nick Ronnfeldt, 2nd place Bobbie Castle-Gosch, and 3rd place Arizona Riecken. After the program students, staff and guests gathered for "Donuts with a Veteran" and learned some history by playing Kahoot on their computers. Thank you to our veterans for their service and sharing this special day with us.
