FBLA's Annual Ice Cream Social!
FBLA's Annual Ice Cream Social!
written by 9th grader Blair Preston
On Tuesday, August 16th, the FBLA, or also known as Future Business Leaders of America, held an ice cream social to invite new members and to show them what FBLA was all about. We did a lot of fun activities while we were there. I also interviewed the president of FBLA, Brenna Wakeley, and the information I received included the benefits of being in FBLA and what we will do.
I'm sure you're wondering what we did at the ice cream social? First, we discussed what we were going to do throughout the year. After that, we came up with new ideas for the year, such as having a lock-in, have a family fun night, and having a 3 on 3 basketball tournament as a fundraiser. After we got all our work done, we played lots of fun games and got to bond as an organization. Also, to top it off of course, we had lots of ice cream!
Joining FBLA isn't just fun, there's also a lot of benefits of being in FBLA. I asked Brenna what benefits you get from being in FBLA and she told me this organization looks GREAT on a college resume, especially if you decide to become an officer. Also, you get to help out the community and show what a good person you are. Nothing feels better than cleaning up the community to make you and other people happy.
I asked Brenna about other events in FBLA, and she gave me the scoop on some big things we do. One event is attending conventions and meeting lots of new friends. Also, there are some competitions to attend to show off your skills. You also gain good business skills for your future job. What's not to love about joining?
Even though the ice cream social has already happened, that doesn't mean you still can't join FBLA. If you want to join, just come to the first meeting on Monday, September 17. The meeting will be held in Mrs. Seagren's room at 7 PM. After hearing everything you need to know about FBLA, why wouldn't you join? It's the whole package to be successful, feel good, and have fun.
