Making Zeps

5th & 6th graders are currently reading the novel, Maniac Magee, by Jerry Spinelli. The story is set in Two Mills, Pennsylvania (which is not actually a city in Pennsylvania) and tells the story of a young boy trying to find where he belongs. Along the way, Jeffreyt (AKA Maniac Magee) meets new people and experiences a whole lot more!
After reading Part I of the story, we came across something new to us...a Zep. A Zep is described in the book as a "Two Mill type hoagie". Meaning that a zep is like what we get at Subway or other similar places.
On Friday of last week, students constructed their own Zep sandwich. Students had a variety of ingredients to choose from in order to make their very own sandwich. The students had a ball and great sandwich to eat!
