A Magical Mystery Tour
Music App. Class Goes to the National Music Museum
February 20, 2010
Recently the LDNE Music Appreciation class made the trip up north to the National Music Museum in Vermillion, South Dakota. The students took the “Magical Mystery Tour” which guided students through instruments that influenced popular music over the last several centuries. A big thank you goes out to Dr. Deborah Check Reeves, Curator of Education for the National Music Museum and Associate Professor of Music for the University of South Dakota, for a fun, interactive, and enlightening tour.

Founded in 1973 on the campus of the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, the National Music Museum (NMM) & Center for Study of the History of Musical Instruments is one of the great institutions of its kind in the world. Its renowned collections which include more than 14,500 American, European, and non-Western instruments from virtually all cultures and historical periods, are the most inclusive anywhere.
