Cougars defeat Conestoga
in season opener

The Cougars opened the 2008 season last Friday against Conestoga.The match up was both team's first 8 man game. LDNE received the ball first and on their first offensive drive scored, putting the LDNE Cougars first on the board. First quarter ended with the score 14-6 LDNE ahead.
The second quarter began with running back Sean Minton punching in touchdowns from both 10 and 6 yards while quaterback Ryan Brehmer had a two yard sneak. The Cougar defense held strong 3rd quarter while only letting Conestoga break away with 29 yards. Jacob Pond scored on the last play of the quarter making it 40-12. Leading the defense was Sean Minton with 18 tackle points, Clayton Wheaton with 17, and Brantley Vavra with 16. Sean Minton led the team in rushing with 242 yards and Jacob Pond with 101.
