Former Husker to Speak at Northeast Athletic Banquet
Lyons Decatur Northeast along with Northeast Sports Boosters are pleased to announce that Matt Davison will be the featured speaker at the 2007/2008 athletic banquet.
Matt Davison is in his 5th year with the Husker Sports Network. In addition to being the Color Analyst for both Husker Football and Men’s Basketball, Davison also fills the role of Color Analyst for FOX Sports Midwest broadcasts.
Growing up in Tecumseh, Nebraska, Davison has been a Husker since birth. In high school he excelled at football and basketball and at the end of his junior year accepted a football scholarship to the University of Nebraska. Davison was named the Athlete of the Year in the state of Nebraska in 1997, and was named Mr. Basketball as well.
Davison is best known for his freshman “Miracle Catch” in the end zone against Missouri on November 8, 1997. This catch helped Nebraska claim its 3rd National Championship in 4 seasons. Following his junior football season at Nebraska, Davison also played for the Husker Men’s Basketball team where he earned a starting role in 3 contests.
Excellence was the name of the game for Davison on and off the field. He was a First Team Academic All Big 12 selection each of his final three seasons with the Huskers, and was named to the Brook Berringer Citizenship team two consecutive years in college for his commitment to youth and community outreach.
Davison graduated from UNL with a communications degree in 2001 and now resides in Lincoln.
The Northeast athletic banquet is held annually to recognize the achievements of our student athletes. The event is open to the public and begins with a potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 28th at the Northeast gymnasium. Admission into the banquet is $5.00 per person or $10.00 per family, and will include a new one year 2008/2009 Northeast Booster membership. There is no charge for LDNE students. If attending the dinner, it is requested that you also provide a potluck dish. For those who do not wish to attend the meal, the program itself will begin at approximately 7 o’clock.
