National Peanut Butter Month

The Preschoolers are busy at work!

by Karlyn Miller

December 04, 2007

The preschoolers had a great time celebrating National Peanut Butter Month. We read many different peanut butter stories. On Thursday, November 29th the children took a try at making their own peanut butter. We had class surveys to see which one they preferred more...creamy or crunchy...creamy won in the morning class and crunchy won in the afternoon. We learned that it takes a lot of REAL peanuts to make peanut butter, but you do not need an elephant (as was the case in one of our stories!). We took a sample of our "peanut butter from scratch" to the cooks who were a little hesitant, but decided to give it a try. What good sports! Our recipe: A whole bunch of peanuts (more than 10), however much oil they put in, push the button on the blender, and stand back!!!  Making Peanut Butter
