The Board of Education of the Lyons-Decatur School District No. 20 met in regular session on Monday, November 12, 2007, in the secondary library. Present were C Anderson, J Anderson, Borchman-Hassebrook, Brehmer, Christiansen, Davis, Kellogg, Preston, and Vlach and Administrators Hansen and Smith.
The duly publicized meeting was opened at 7:30 p.m. and acknowledgement of receipt of notice and agenda was taken by roll call.
Student Council representatives, Corey Friedli and Anthony Bolen gave the Board the monthly update on activities and happenings around the school.
The Superintendent’s report included the Dept. of Education’s review of the Preschool program. The program received an average score of 6.9 out of 7. Mr. Hansen shared information on the NASB State Education Conference coming up, and changing the next board meeting to December 13.
Mr. Smith’s report included the list of current honor roll students, activity reports, Veteran’s Day Program, Parent-Teacher conferences, the NDE External visit, and the Nebraska State of the Schools report.
The minutes of the October meeting were approved and the treasurer’s report was accepted.
The following motions were made and approved:
1. General Fund claims in the amount $279,724.23
2. Continue to provide educational services for all elementary students at the Lyons elementary center and to permanently close the Decatur attendance center.
3. Direct the Superintendent to set up an auction for the disposal of excess facilities, property, equipment, and /or supplies including the Decatur center facility and property.
4. Renew the lease with Burgess Medical Clinic for a new one year term retroactive back to June 1, 2007 and continuing through May 31, 2008.
5. Go into executive session at 9:05 p.m. to discuss personnel.
6. Close executive session at 9:55 p.m.
7. Direct the Superintendent to attempt to purchase the property at 460 Crystal Street at the Sheriff’s auction on November 21, 2007
8. Adjourn meeting at 10:05 p.m.
