Dirt, Dirt and more Dirt....

Actually, it is: Soil, Soil and more Soil!

by Corey Friedli

November 01, 2007

Lately, the FFA students have been busy judging soil for Land Evaluation. On October 10th, the LDNE FFA Chapter held the District Land Evaluation. The students had a great time judging the soil on their own turf. After judging during the morning, the chapter served a free lunch provided by Central Valley Ag and later learned the results.

Individually, Jacob Niewohner won the competition getting a 340 out of a possible 400 points. Other Purple ribbon placers were Kristen Cameron 5th, Megan Malloy 9th, and Steele Valenzuela 10th. Blue ribbon winners were Karlyn Miller, Ashley Bacon, Danielle King, Galvin Vetick, Jesse Raabe, James Kempcke. Those to receive red ribbons were were Vanessa Vetick, Brittney Doht, Eric Miller, Loren Peterson, Corey Friedli, and Morgan Daberkow. Clayton Wheaton received a white ribbon. The team of Megan Malloy, Kristen Cameron, Brittney Doht, and Galvin Vetick placed third and moved onto the state competition. Five others of the teams from the Chapter also placed, all receiving ribbons.
