COURSE DESCRIPTION

Tech Ed I is a survey course for students to experience all four areas of technology. Nine weeks will be spent in each of the four areas of technology which will aid students in deciding in they would like to take another course specializing in that area. Some activities students can expect to complete in this course are: solar hot dog cookers, model bridges, CO2 cars, water rockets, problem solving activities, and precision measurement.

 

COUSRE OBJECTIVES

At the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. List and define the four areas of technology.
  2. Show critical thinking skills through problem solving activities.
  3. Apply safe work practices when using equipment.
  4. Construct projects in all four areas of technology.
  5. Summarize testing results in a lab report.
  6. Paraphrase lecture information and take notes.
  7. Illustrate ideas and designs through sketches and drawings.
  8. Produce a short video.
  9. Apply the design process and universal systems model to various problems.
  10. Create a portfolio containing course information and project handouts.

 

TESTBOOK INFORMATION

Due to the uniqueness of this course no textbook will be assigned. Handouts will be provided for assignments as needed.

 

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

  1. Read and study assignments as minimal preparation for class.
  2. Successful and timely completion of all tests, quizzes, assigned lab work and any other assignment.
  3. Maintain a neat and orderly work area, daily clean-up is required and is part of your grade.
  4. Keep a creative and open mind.
  5. Maintain a cooperative attitude when working in groups.
  6. Have fun!!!
