COURSE DESCRIPTION

Students will review basic operations necessary to operate a keyboard. They will demonstrate competency by using the touch method of keyboarding, and review proper keyboarding posture and techniques. They will also apply keyboarding skills in processing various communication documents. Word processing concepts are presented utilizing appropriate software, with emphasis on speed and accuracy development

 

STUDENT GOALS

  1. Demonstrate proficiency in the touch method of keyboarding, emphasizing speed, accuracy and productivity.
  2. Solve problems using critical thinking and technological skills to promote productivity.
  3. Identify workstation components and demonstrate appropriate operation of equipment and peripherals
  4. To apply basic language arts principles correctly while keying a variety of documents
  5. To operate the computer and software quickly and correctly
  6. To key various types of business correspondence in a variety of formats
  7. To key academic and business reports in a variety of formats
  8. To key columnar data
  9. To create desktop publishing documents

  2. Formatting personal business letters, business letters, and envelopes
  3. Formatting columnar data
  4. Formatting personal and business reports

EVALUATION AND ASSESSMENT

Computer application projects will be assigned points for accuracy and application of computer concepts.  Work must be completed within class guidelines.
