7th Keyboarding Syllabus

SEVENTH GRADE KEYBOARDING
Grade Level 7
1 Semester/18 Weeks

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Students will understand basic operations necessary to operate a keyboard. They will demonstrate competency by using the touch method to key information in preparing written communication.

 

STUDENT GOALS

  1. Operation—demonstrate proper keyboarding technique by keying alphabetic and numeric information
  2. Formatting—format letters, envelopes, reports, agendas, numbered and bulleted lists, minutes of meetings
  3. Composition—create and key personal and business documents

 

UNITS OF STUDY

  1. Learning to operate the letter keys
  2. Improving technique
  3. Learning to center horizontally/vertically
  4. Learning the figure keys
  5. Learning the basic symbol keys
  6. Formatting and keying academic and business reports
  7. Formatting and keying personal business and business letters
  8. Formatting envelopes

 

STANDARDS FOR GRADING

Technique standards will be graded on a point basis as to whether the specific technique is met.

Quizzes will be graded on a percentage grade of the total points on the quiz.

Daily assignments will be assigned points for accuracy and timeliness.
