COURSE
DESCRIPTION
Personal Finance is designed to
help students manage their resources and to make sound personal
financial decisions. It provides students with the necessary
consumer information to enable them to live productive lives as
consumers. The course also includes career research and
planning.
STUDENT
GOALS
- Apply economic reasoning to the management of
individual resources, including time, money, assets, and knowledge.
- Identify and utilize financial services and
resources necessary to obtain a loan
- Evaluate the use of credit in a personal or
business situation.
- Identify career opportunities and complete
employment documents and the interview process
- Identify agencies that provide support and
advice for personal or business decisions.
- Differentiate between various savings and
investment opportunities.
- Analyze the benefits and costs associated
with different types of insurance
- Explain the benefits of saving for financial
goals
- Demonstrate an understanding of personal tax
laws including sales, property, and income tax by completing tax
forms
