COURSE DESCRIPTION

This class is designed to provide background knowledge needed to use a computer in applications including advanced word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation software, graphics, and computer/software terminology.

 

STUDENT GOALS

  1. Utilize a variety of software applications including word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, and desktop publishing
  2. Understand the content of technical reading material by following directions or accurately interpreting data
  3. Use electronic resources to access, retrieve, and transmit information

  1. Basic Skills
  2. Paragraph Formatting, Margins, and Tabs
  3. Moving, Copying, and Replacing Text
  4. Printing and Page Formatting
  5. Templates and Wizards
  6. Mail Merge
  7. Desktop Publishing
  8. Tables

 

EXCEL

  1. Basic Skills
  2. Developing a Worksheet

 

POWERPOINT

  1. Basic Skills
  2. Developing a Presentation
  3. Customizing a Presentation

 

ACCESS

  1. Understanding Access Basics
  2. Building a Database

*Also included is an integration unit of all four software applications.

STANDARDS FOR ASSESSMENT

Student’s daily work will be graded on both quality and completion. Points will be assigned and averaged.  Quizzes will be graded based on total points on the quiz.  All is subject to change, depending upon units covered.
