Course Description
Technology Systems is a course where students will create, design
and produce interactive media products and services. The
course emphasizes the development of digitally-generated or
computer-enhanced media. Skill development in web page
construction and digital video design is incorporated including
understanding software and Internet capabilities. Students
will have the opportunity to develop web sites and digital videos
through simulations and projects.
Students will also develop the attitudes, techniques and skills
necessary for success in today’s fast-paced business world.
The integration of emerging technologies and business principles is
incorporated throughout the course. Students may be given the
opportunity to complete certification requirements.
Course Objectives
1. Utilize interactive media and web technologies to
communicate information and ideas effectively.2. Assess and
explain web site validity and credibility of content.
3. Demonstrate and apply knowledge of web page
development.
4. Develop and deliver interactive, multimedia projects.
5. Practice a code of ethics for the use of interactive media
and web development (documentation of resources, files, logos,
images, text, graphics, trademarks, copyright issues).
6. Discuss federal and state laws as well as consequences
pertaining to cyber crime (trademark and copyright infringement,
personal safety, data security, unsolicited information).
7. Identify and recognize the requirements and benefits of
industry certifications in the interactive media field and web
technologies.
8. Describe common tasks, career paths and educational
requirements in the field of interactive media and web
technologies.
9. Utilize a variety of software applications including word
processing, spreadsheet, database, communications, multimedia, and
desktop and web publishing.
10. Solve problems using critical thinking and technological
skills to promote productivity.
11. Use communications services and applications on-line
information services.
12. Understand the content of technical reading material by
following directions or accurately interpreting data.
13. Develop an awareness of the protocol for international
communications including languages, customs, and time zones.
14. Classify, store, retrieve, archive, and purge paper and
computer-based records.
15. Prioritize work to fulfill responsibilities, to meet
deadlines, and to utilize negotiation skills.
16. Complete employment documents necessary for job
acquisition.
17. Practice and use technological knowledge and skills in
personal, educational, and employment settings.

skill-building emphasis, communication emphasis, Internet
utilization, projects, review and assessment.

Standards for Assessment
Students’ daily work will be graded on mailability and
productivity standards—both quality (errors) and quantity (amount
of work completed). Points will be assigned and
averaged.
Objective tests and quizzes will be graded as a percentage
grade of the total points on the test.
Production tests will be graded on mailability and productivity
standards, and points will be assigned and averaged.
Projects will be graded using a rubric and points will be
assessed.
Student Assessment Plan
Subject to change, depending upon units covered:
Daily work—50%
Includes computer projects,
simulations, chapter questions, definition of
terms, discussion, etc.
Tests—35%
Quizzes—15%
