Leadership Syllabus

Elective Course

Grade Level: 10, 11, 12

 

Course Description: 

An elective course into the basic areas of leadership.  Students will learn aspects of the inner self, public self, and continual renewal.  Students will develop skills and learn experience in a variety of concepts related to leadership in youth as well as life long development.  An emphasis on servant leadership will stream throughout the course.  During this course, students will complete a mentoring program.

 

Objectives:

 

  1. Students will describe the elements which contribute toward personal effectiveness in interpersonal situations. AE 12.6.1
  2. Students will identify and demonstrate the interpersonal choices associated with building effective relationships. AE 12.6.2
  3. Students will synthesize knowledge about personal interpersonal skills and relationship building in order to developinterpersonal leadership skills. AE 12.6.3
  4. Students will be able to describe the elements which contribute toward personal effectiveness in interpersonal situations, including locus of control, esteem, and relationships
  5. Students will identify and demonstrate the interpersonal choices associated with building effective relationships.
  6. Students will be able to synthesize knowledge about personal interpersonal skills and relationship building in order to develop interpersonal leadership skills.
  7. Students will develop the skills necessary to take a leadership role in society.

 

State Standards Supported:

Reading/Writing: 12.1.1, 12.1.2, 12.1.6, 12.2.1, 12.2.4, 12.2.5, 12.3.1, 12.3.2

Science: 12.7.1, 12.8.1

Social Studies/History: 12.1.4, 12.4.3

 

 

Grading:

Grades will be determined through quizzes, tests, student participation, work habits, class assignments, presentations, and other projects.   The semester test will be worth 10% of your final semester grade.  The rest will follow the weighting below:
