Course Description:

This exploratory course will provide experiences in many areas of agriculture.  The role and economic impact of Nebraska agriculture, economic role of agriculture, career study, animal science, plant sciences, horticulture and nursery, crop science, leadership development, and current events in agriculture.

 

Objectives:

1.         Identify, explain, and correctly use the impact and role of agriculture and agribusiness.

2.         Identify, explain, and correctly use job descriptions and career selection.

3.         Explain and identify important characteristics of Nebraska agriculture.

4.         Research, read, and analyze current events in agriculture

5.         Identify, explain, and correctly use terms and basic knowledge in the following areas:

a.         Animal Science

b.        Crop sciences

c.         Plant sciences

d.        Food sciences

e.         Horticulture and nursery

f.          Leadership development

State Standards Supported:

Reading/Writing: 12.1.2, 12.2.5, 12.3.1, 12.3.2

 

Grading:

Grades will be determined through quizzes, tests, student participation, work habits, class assignments, presentations, and other projects.   The semester test will be worth 10% of your final semester grade.  The rest will follow the weighting below:
