Course Description:
An elective, introductory course into the basic areas of agriculture, agriscience, agribusiness, and the FFA. The FFA is an intracurricular organization for students enrolled in Agricultural Education. This course includes units in the FFA, speaking, SAE, record keeping, agriscience and interpersonal skills.
Objectives:
- Students will demonstrate the process followed for establishment of a business with special emphasis directed toward supervised agricultural experience program development. AE 12.1.5
2. Keep a record book or computer record program with their SAE or other personal transactions
3. Identify, use, and explain the role and purpose of parliamentary procedure
4. Correctly utilize parliamentary procedure to effectively conduct meetings and business
- Students will identify career opportunities which exist in the agribusiness industry. AE 12.1.6
- Students will identify and describe the anatomy and physiology of production animals. AE 12.3.2
- Students will compare and contrast management practices and considerations necessary to provide an adequatenutritional environment for efficient plant production. AE 12.5.5
- Students will identify, explain and describe the important anatomy and physiology of plants. AE 12.5.7
- Students will describe the reproductive processes, genetics, and biotechnology involved in efficient plant production. AE 12.5.8
- Students will identify non-renewable natural resources and suggest strategies for conservation and preservation. AE 12.7.4
- Students will identify and suggest strategies to properly manage range and/or pasture resources. AE 12.7.6
- Students will identify and suggest strategies to properly manage water resources. AE 12.7.7
- Students will identify and suggest strategies to properly assess the quality condition of air as a natural resource. AE 12.7.8
- Students will describe the elements which contribute toward personal effectiveness in interpersonal situations. AE 12.6.1
15. Identify and explain the role of agriculture on local, state, national, and international levels
16. Explain the history and importance of the FFA
17. Identify and explain the role of the individual in the FFA
18. Identify methods of prepared public speaking and interpretation utilizing the FFA Creed

Grading:
Grades will be determined through quizzes, tests, student participation, work habits, class assignments, presentations, and other projects. The semester test will be worth 10% of your final semester grade. The rest will follow the weighting below:

Daily work 30%
Class Participation 20%
Experiential Points 15%
