Course Description:
This course will deal with natural resources and how we manage and conserve them. Natural resources including soil, water, fish, wildlife, waste, pollution, and other environmental resources will be studied.
This course will help students understand and make responsible decisions regarding conservation of our natural resources.
Objectives:
- Students will identify procedures and practices, and demonstrate skills appropriate for the management of environmental and natural resource systems. AE 12.2.5
- Students will recognize the importance in all aspects of interacting with the natural environment and its resources. AE 12.7.1
- Students will investigate natural resource career opportunities. AE 12.7.2
- Students will explain the impact of past and current environmental issues. AE 12.7.3
- Students will identify non-renewable natural resources and suggest strategies for conservation and preservation. AE 12.7.4
- Students will identify and suggest strategies to maintain forest resources. AE 12.7.5
- Students will identify and suggest strategies to properly manage range and/or pasture resources. AE 12.7.6
- Students will identify and suggest strategies to properly manage water resources. AE 12.7.7
- Students will identify and suggest strategies to properly assess the quality condition of air as a natural resource. AE 12.7.8
- Students will identify and suggest strategies to properly manage the natural resources of fish and wildlife. AE 12.7.9
- Students will identify and suggest strategies for maintenance of soil resources. AE 12.7.10
- Students will identify and suggest strategies to maintain renewable natural resources. AE 12.7.11
- Students will practically apply technology in natural resource experiences. AE 12.7.12

Grading:
Grades will be determined through quizzes, tests, student participation, work habits, class assignments, presentations, and other projects. The semester test will be worth 10% of your final semester grade. The rest will follow the weighting below:
Tests and quizzes 35%
Daily work 30%
Class Participation 20%
Experiential Points 15%
