Experiential Learning Point Outline

SAE/Experiential Learning Points

 

Purposes: 

Reinforce agricultural education classroom instruction. 

Encourage the student to control his/her grade by selecting learning activities focused on their interests.

 

Activities:  The students select the activities from those listed on the activity sheets.  The student documents the activities by using one or more of the following: writing a summary, making an oral presentation, demonstration, VCR tape, power point, etc.  Summaries are recorded on the point sheets.  Documentation and point sheets are due on set dates.  Activities are not limited to the point sheets but need to relate to course content areas and approved by the instructor.

 

Grading:  SAE points will represent 15 % of the student’s grade.

 

Total Points required per semester: 500 pts.

 

SAE Record Book:  Can be used for up to 250 points per semester.

 

Leadership:  Maximum 150 points per semester can be from leadership, except for the leadership class.

 

Extra Credit:  The only extra credit in this class relates to SAE Points.  Students may earn 1 extra credit point for each 50 points above the 500 required.  The maximum points which may be earned per semester is 600 points or 2 extra credit points on your grade.

 

Point Due Dates:

 

October 1/February 15            100 points

 

End of quarter                          200 points

 

End of semester                        500 points
